Comptche is a census-designated place in Mendocino County, California, United States. It is located 17 miles (27 km) southeast of Fort Bragg, at an elevation of 187 feet (57 m). There is a KG-3 Primary school serving the town. The population was 159 at the 2010 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP covers an area of 1.2 square miles (3.0 km²), all of it land.
The Comptche post office opened in 1877, closed in 1877, and re-opened in 1879. Although the precise origin of the town's name is unknown, there was a village of the Pomo people named Komacho nearby.
The 2010 United States Census reported that Comptche had a population of 159. The population density was 137.8 people per square mile (53.2/km²). The racial makeup of Comptche was 146 (91.8%) White, 0 (0.0%) African American, 1 (0.6%) Native American, 1 (0.6%) Asian, 0 (0.0%) Pacific Islander, 5 (3.1%) from other races, and 6 (3.8%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 10 persons (6.3%).
